אודות
VResort is a VR app for choosing and booking hotels, made for a Singapore startup. In the headset you browse hotels as floating cards, step into one through a 360 video, look around the grounds and compare prices, then book a room without taking the headset off. We designed the interface, animated it and built a prototype.
Challenge
Expensive hotels are hard to sell with a photo gallery. The startup wanted more people to look at them and book, and the product also had to win over investors, so the task was to rethink hotel booking for virtual reality.
Approach
We started by trying competing VR apps to find a style that would stand apart. We moved away from flat, website-like screens towards visuals that feel pleasant to touch, so the interface became soft, rounded and tactile.
Hotels you can step into
Hotels float in front of you as cards with the price for your dates, the rating and a 360 video. Open one and its page unfolds around you: a map, photos, the list of amenities, prices from booking sites side by side and a direct offer from the hotel.

Booking without taking the headset off
After the tour you can book right away: stay in VR or open the booking in a browser, get the link by email and see the confirmation. A direct offer with a promo code sits next to the prices from booking sites.
Search in your hand
Search lives in a round menu you press with your hand, with location suggestions, dates, guests, favourites and settings. Every hotel card has quick actions for the gallery, the map, the info, the rating and the price.

In the headset
Laid out in VR first
We laid the interface out in VR and agreed the arrangement there before the final renders and animations, so the client could try it in the headset early. The 3D interface went into the client's project as ready assets.

Outcome
The 3D interface launched on Oculus Quest, and the assets we handed over are used in the published version of the app.
