Tretyakov Art Gallery
- Tretyakov Gallery
概要
A series of VR projects with the Tretyakov Gallery about famous artists. Paintings and manifestos by Ivan Shishkin, Kazimir Malevich and Natalia Goncharova become spaces the viewer walks through in a headset, close to watching the work being made through the artist's own eyes.
Challenge
Take paintings people know from the museum wall and turn them into a place you can step into, so the history of art meets the technology of today.
Approach
Each artist got a VR piece of their own, built from the painting and its story. We brought the canvases into 3D, staged the moment when the picture comes apart around the visitor, and placed the hints that guide the hands right in the space.
Ivan Shishkin, Morning in a Pine Forest
The visitor starts in a virtual gallery hall. The painting spills out of its frame, the pine forest grows through the room, and the bears from the canvas climb a broken tree next to an old plate camera.
Kazimir Malevich in three dimensions
It starts in a painter's studio. A Suprematist composition builds up on the easel, the shapes break loose and fill the room, and the visitor walks straight through the canvas.
Natalia Goncharova in three dimensions
This one is about making a painting by hand. The visitor arranges a still life on the table, picks up a brush and watches the scene turn into a canvas in Goncharova's manner. Hints such as Grab the brush sit in the space and guide the hands.
