من نحن

A concept of a meditation app and its ecosystem for Apple's AR glasses. Our XR team WOWLab made it together with the British Higher School of Art and Design: it started as a design study and later became a course at the school.

Challenge

Picture what an ecosystem and a meditation app could look like on Apple's AR glasses, starting from the meditation app on Apple Watch, and define the app's main functions and architecture.

Approach

The work ran in small research teams. We set the goals and roles, mapped the market of meditation apps, described the basic scenario inside those apps and went through the Apple ecosystem and its design methods.

Before the app opens

We described how the glasses would work before any app starts: unlocking, a home board with widgets, notifications and quick actions, an app menu and switching between recent apps. Control comes from a touch panel on the glasses, gestures read by Apple Watch and camera tracking, and Siri.

A short meditation from the watch

The first version of the app offers a short meditation based on Apple Watch sensor readings, with presets of music and visuals and a preview. Breathing modes are named after the effect they give, such as focus or relax. A person either breathes along with a visual rhythm or follows a guided session where an avatar shows the right breath and posture.

A habit, not a one-off

Mindful minutes from Apple Health and progress charts can be shown in the glasses, and a schedule with reminders and iCloud sync helps build the habit. After a session people rate how they feel with a smiley and dictate a comment.

Outcome

The concept became a course at the British Higher School of Art and Design.
