A concept and the full interface for an app that shows how clean the air is in a city: one index for the whole city, the readings behind it and a district map. We packaged the idea, designed the phone and tablet versions, animated them and presented the product.
Challenge
The client had an idea for an air quality app and needed a concept, a design and a complete interface to show it to people and sell it.
Approach
The interface stays light and calm and lets the colours of the index carry the meaning. For the pitch we made 3D renders of the phone and tablet screens and a short animation.
Phone
The home screen gives a single air quality index for the city with a plain verdict, then the four readings behind it: temperature, PM2.5 particles, humidity and nitrogen dioxide. A second screen explains every band of the index in everyday words, from excellent to high, so people know what a number means for them.
The two main screens
Tablet
On the tablet the same data sits on a city map split into coloured zones. Layers switch between air quality, temperature, humidity, particles and nitrogen dioxide, and a tap on a zone shows its index.
Outcome
The work helped sell the idea and launch the app.
