MCY-1 is one of the largest residential developers in Russia: it builds housing and public buildings and lays engineering and energy networks. We designed its new main website, an internal portal for running the company and its construction projects on desktop and mobile, and one design system for both.
Challenge
The company's internal processes were scattered, and the tools people used every day were uncomfortable. It needed a main website for the public and an internal platform for managing projects and people.
Approach
The work ran from August to July in five overlapping stages: discovery, an audit of the existing portal, a UX phase with wireframes, the interface, and a design system built alongside it.
Internal portal
The portal replaced the old intranet with a new interface in a dark and a light theme. Each employee starts from a personal area. Around it sit chats, task services such as IT requests run as kanban boards, tasks and projects, and instructions with cloud drives. Every module works on desktop and on mobile.
Main website
For the website we focused on function and on getting key information across fast: the order book, current construction, projects on a map, events, tenders and careers. 3D graphics of the buildings help people read the projects at a glance, and we made a motion video for the site. A presentation template in the new visual style rounds out the set.
Outcome
The new website improved the company's image and brought in new partners, investors and clients for construction work. The company grew and gained room to scale, and the portal brought internal processes into one place, with tasks and company statistics easy to see.
