StoryScape for Apple Vision Pro turns the room around a family into a fairy tale. A story opens as a magic window on the wall, a creature flies out of it into the room, and with a gesture the whole world of the tale can wrap around the viewer while the story is told. We designed the headset version: the user flow, the interface, the immersive moments, a design system for visionOS and a demo in Reality Composer. The project is still in development.
Challenge
Take an AI app that writes illustrated tales for children and parents and rethink it for a headset, where the story is not on a screen but in the room around you.
Approach
We storyboarded the scenes in Shapes XR, drew the interface for visionOS and assembled a demo in Reality Composer, so every moment could be checked in the simulator before it went further.
A window for every tale
On the home screen three arched windows stand side by side, each framed in glass with its world moving in parallax inside. Scrolling brings new windows forward, and choosing one opens its card with the title, description, tags, heroes, rewards and chapters.

The window becomes a portal
When the story starts, the window opens into the room. A dragon breaks out into the living room while the text runs on a glass panel next to it, and with a gesture the fairy-tale world can unfold around the viewer in 360 degrees.
Reading in the room
Story pages sit in a window in front of you with a chapter timeline, playback controls and reading settings for brightness, page colour, font and size.
Tales a parent makes
For families we drew a calmer version in the native visionOS style, where a parent makes a new tale step by step: who the listener is, the hero, the place and the lesson of the story. My tales, Favourites and Popular collect the finished ones.
Worlds and a storyteller
Each tale gets its own world. We explored them as environment concepts and gave the app a helper, a caped storyteller who leads the family through the story.
